THANKS SO FOR SHARING!
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!

Cherry-Almond Bars

1 c butter
2 c sugar
3 c all-purpose flour
4 eggs
1 t vanilla extract
1 t almond extract
1 t salt
21-ounce can of cherry pie filling
*******
Blend butter+sugar, add next 5 ingredients and mix well.Pour (this is like cookie dough so you may have to use your hands to pat it onto the cookie sheet) 3/4 of the batter into a greased 15"x10" jellyroll pan; spread cherry pie filling over the top. Dot with remaining batter (I drop it by teaspoonfuls all over the top); bake@350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Makes about 3 dozen bars.

I am a follower. My favorite cookie is thumbprint cookies. The recipe is simple to make b/c it is to be used with very young children. 1 cup peanut butter smooth; 1/2 cup sugar; 1 egg. Mix these together. Take spoon and put glob on cookie tray and press in center with thumb. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until golden brown. After you take cookies out, place a Kiss or MM in center while cooling. You can also bake the batter in a loaf pan. If you do it this way, put a chocolate bar on top while cooling and cover with foil for 5 minutes.

1 1/2c. peanut butter
1c. sugar
1c. karo syrup

Boil sugar and syrup until bubbly and stir in peanut butter. Pour over cereal, peanuts, and coconut in large bowl and mix until well covered. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet. Let cool and break into pieces.

Hmm, I love to make pfefferneuse ( I never spell it right!) for my sister! It's a cookie my grandmother made every year that I try to continue every year in making.

I am a follower and love home made sugar cookies, cut in star shapes, and really big! The [patterns for the tea towels are beautiful Fingers crossed! In your next post, can you tell us what the difference would be in using embroidery floss or the perle cotton? I'm not sure what the difference is and never know which to use...is it only the thickness that's different? Thanks!

Love your choice of embroidery. What did you use to transfer the design?

I don't know that I have a favourite Christmas cookie. My step-dad used to make these peanut butter based balls dipped in chocolate. He used to call them Gorilla Balls which cracked us kids up. He also made a beautiful date bar (slice)and lots of assorted cookies. That's more than 30 years ago now. I don't bake a lot of cookies - only chocolate chip and a really nice oatmeal. I can send you the oatmeal recipe if you like.

Hope you have a lovely Christmas. Only two weeks to go!

My favorite cookie is the Nestle toll house cookie with m and m's on top instead of the chocolate chips. They look so good too and are delicious. I am a follower. I love the look of embroidered tea towels.

Janet said...

My favourite cookie is my mom's shortbread decorated with glace cherries.
1 cup butter, 1/2 cup icing sugar, 1/2 cup cornstarch, 2 cups sifted flour, 1/2 tsp salt if using sweet butter. Cream butter. Sift all dry ingredients together then add a bit at a time to the butter. Knead a bit, pat out and cut or roll as desired. This makes a semi-hard shortbread, not one of those melt in your mouth ones. Then before baking decorate the cookies with pieces of glace cherry. Put on lots because these really add to the cookies. Bake at 325 for 20 minutes. Yum. Thanks for a chance to win - The embroidery looks like it will be gorgeous.
