First I wanted to let you all know, in case you didn't already, the next installment of the My Neighborhood blocks for the month of November are posted on the website. The button on my sideboard should take you there. I hope you like them.
Next, I am skipping out on work tomorrow to go to Checker with PTM and our friend Cori (crazy quilt girl online fabric shop). It should be a fabulous day!
Looks like I am going to get to tag along to NY with DH when he goes to Flight Safety training in NJ next week. He will go to school and I get to explore NYC! Any tips?
Now about this Bee thing. I am intrigued by the notion of an "on line" quilt bee. I am seeing pictures and I am liking what I am seeing. I am still investigating the possibility of (maybe) hosting something like this. Now, all that being said, do any of you have any experience with this and if so please share with me. In addition, is anyone out there actually interested in joining in with me to do something like this?
I need to investigate here first. More later as the Vampire Diaries is on followed by Supernatural and then BED!!
Let me know what you think of the Virtual Bee idea!
Woohoo - thanks for the new block! And have a GREAT time at Checker. NYC - oh my gosh - hit the garment district!!!!!!!! That's my dream trip. Seems like there's a shop of nothing but buttons....*swoon*
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a bee, but wouldn't participate...too much else going on.
I live outside NYC - definitely hit the garment district - City Quilter, M& J Trimmings. Broadway for a show - discount tickets at TKTS booth. The Christmas show at Radio City may be started by then.
ReplyDeleteHi, am fascinated by the online bee's and would love to participate in one - EXCEPT - I don't do the machine at all... strictly a handsewer and a lot of the wonky blocks and ultra modern blocks are just out of my league.
ReplyDeleteNow, a bee that involved traditional pieced and appliqued blocks would be more my style...
Am doing a Dresden plate bee with a group of friends at present, we all know each other - go away together annually so timed to have the big reveal at next years retreat. The monthly handovers have become a great opportunity for us to catch up - but even knowing everyone, this has freaked out some people, as they are all at different levels of quilting and some are so into the matchy/matchy thing they won't trust us to pick fabric - which defeats the purpose of a surprise really...lol
Oooo I can hardly wait to get home and "collect" my neighborhood houses :0).
ReplyDeleteNo Bee for me, I have been burned too many times in swaps. I freely admit I'm a block snob and hate sending out well constructed blocks and receiving yucky stuff back....even from people I chatted with for years. I do wish you luck with this endeavor however.
Crispy
NY? that sounds just absolutely great! Have fun girl!!
ReplyDeleteI read the link and isn't such a bee the same as a swap?
As with anything else a virtual Bee is only as good as the participants. I am in one & it is o.k. Would I do another - not sure. Would people send "all" of the fabric for their blocks? Could they "require" X fabric - therefore making other people go out & buy for this project? Skill levels, etc. Whole lot to think about...
ReplyDeleteVampire Diaries! Was it good? Or is it scary?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the blocks! They are lovely!
