Rafting on the Nantahala

We got up in the morning and went to the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) to begin our adventure. Funny story, we had to go and watch a video about safety and
then they released us to go and get out paddles and get on the bus.
As we came around the corner the guides said,
"I have the left handed paddles"
or
"I have the right handed paddles".
I just chuckled, grabbed a paddle and got on the bus.
At this point DD2 turns to me and asks me if I made sure to get a right handled paddle
and she told me she avoided the left handed paddles.
 I just CRACKED up!!

Ahhh baby girl, got to love her!
We got to the head of the river and loaded onto the raft.
We were the tail boat so that was fun, I got to take photos of everyone in front of us.

There was one point on the river where we were in a cloud.
So cool!

I managed to get a shot of DD2 on the raft too = )

This was the biggest rapids we went on

This was our entire raft and also our guide.

We ate the lunch we had packed and headed out for Asheville.
There are a TON of mountain photos but shoot on over to my Flickr if you want to see those.
One of the neatest places we went to there was a chocolate shop.
They had chocolate high heel shoes.

Also chocolate cowboy boots

And the coolest chocolate dinosaur eggs too

All were made out of chocolate!
We walked around the town and did some shopping.
There was a really amazing church there too St Lawrence's.
I would  have loved to have gone inside but there wasn't time.

Isn't it beautiful?  So we spent the night in Asheville.
Did you know the Hunger Games was filmed there?
The next day we decided to take the Blue Ridge Parkway and go to Linville Falls.
I will post about that tomorrow.
I have so much to tell you but I don't want you to go on data overload, LOL.

I leave you with a great pic from the raft trip.

  6. Looks and sounds like you had a great time...you know I'm not good with boats, even big boats...not even a cruise...this is something I would never do...I would watch with my feet firmly planted on the ground. I must say it is definitely beautiful country with lots of uphill trails!! hugs
