Christmas Fence Almost Complete

I got my Christmas Fence quilt back from my LAQ this week and I am so happy with it.
I asked her to use a birds and berries panto that she has.
She used thread the color of the sashing to quilt it and I am so happy with it.

I trimmed it up last night.
I just need to put the binding on it now.
I will be binding it using the same fabric as the sashing.

If you want to make one just like mine, the tutorial is posted over here.
I would love to see it if you make one.
Please post it to my Flickr Group.

I used the Grunge green on the back.
I got it at Crazy Quilt Girl's shop if you are looking for backing.
In fact I bought all my fabric for this quilt there.
 The line is Blitzen.
Stop on in she is having a Super Sale at the moment.
Great prices and fantastic customer service too!!

Close up of the fabulous quilting!

I'm sorry but Fatty McFatty wanted to say "meow" while I was posting.
Yes, yes, everyone loves you Aiden!
Sheesh, needy beast!

Oh and Abbey wants to know if anyone wants to play?
Anyone??

Silly dog!

IKEA Goodness and Scrappy Trip

It was a great weekend over here!
I have a lot to share but will break it up into a few posts.
My hubby and I put my IKEA cubbies together on Saturday.
I pulled a muscle in my back this week so I have not been able to do a lot of moving or
 packing up Christmas (still).
I managed to snap a pic of him assembling the bigger unit.

Here are the units all assembled.
I did take the dragons down and that shelf too.
That's where my TV will be going.

I ran over to Cori's and picked up some stuff that I ordered too.
She ave me the cutest little silver bunny and a gift certificate for my Christmas present.
I love that girl!

I don't know if it was just me but I had no idea that there were words on The Proberbial Quilt pattern!
I guess it makes sense but I just thought it was cut up stuff.

I also bought some bias bars.
I need to make some bias strips for a quilt, for an auction that I had committed to.

The auction was put on by my daughter and some o her friends to raise money for Wolf Haven via the Teen Wolf Sterek fandom.
I bought some panels to use to make the quilt.
As I was in my *new sewing room* cutting the panels apart and making the squares all the same size, I laid it out on the floor.
 Hmmmm.
How to put this together.

I laid it out like this and then it hit me...BAM!!!

I will keep the wolves like this and copy them on the right.
That leaves a whole in the middle so here's where my brilliant idea comes in...

The fandom is Sterek.
The 2 characters people in this group are shipping are Stiles and Derek.
Derek has a triskelion tattoo on his back.
I can use the bias bars to make a triskelion for the center block!!!

Cool right??
I sure hope I can pull that off!!
 Yeah, embrace your fears baby!!!

Then, and I totally blame Jeannette
She wanted me to cut a 2.5" strip from every piece of fabric I was putting away.
That would have taken way too long!
I wanted to try the block and see if I even liked making it too before I committed to an entire quilt.

It was fun to make up this block.
Now I have to decide if I want to make it all scrappy or use the fabrics from this line.
 Peacock with Alison Jane Smith.

I bought quite a bit of this and along with a few solid prints this would make a great scrappy trip.

So hubby brought up some tubs of fabric and I put those away, unpacked my closet and now I see two more bins waiting for me now too.
I went upstairs to my sewing room around 1:30 and when I looked up it was 5:30!!

OMG I am so in love with having my own space.
I do need an ironing space upstairs though.
Running up and down the stairs kind of sucked.

Any suggestions for a small ironing space?

I will be having some fabric and other things up for sale on my blog tomorrow.
If you are interested in anything please email me!

Have a great night!
Back to work for me tomorrow, UGH.
I just want to keep playing in my new space.

Whatever You Do On New Year's Day...

You will do for the entire year!
 Ever heard that?

I was trying very hard to do some things today that I want to be doing throughout the year, for sure.
I started off the morning by making a new waffle recipe.
They were fantastic.
I can see I will be experimenting with cooking more this year.
Check!

I was uploading photos and had a cat helper.
(love the fact that my hair was wet from the shower, so flattering!)
Hallie would not leave my lap so I used her as my table.
Cat at my side all year?
 Check!

I did some stuff no one wants to hear about (boring, but necessary).
I decided it was time to get into the new sewing room and
see how my machine would fit and it which position.
So I was moving stuff around and I think this is going to be the arrangement.

I will end up facing the IKEA shelves once I have them.
This is the only way, if I want to open up my whole table that I can do so.

See that low dresser?
I wrenched my back moving it toward the window!
It feels like a pulled muscle on my right side.
 YIKES!

Then because I wanted to do something quilty, I cut my 10" squares for the Kokka fabric swap.
I think it means I will be swapping all year too!
 Woo Hoo!
I also think it means I will be spending some time in my sewing space.
 Check!

I went to see Les Mis tonight with a good friend, so spending time with friends?
 Check!!

Taking pictures of my kitties?
 Check!

Last but not least?
Why blogging of course!

Welcome 2013, I hope you will be a great year!!

2012 In Quilty Review

I made a couple of mosaics, like everyone else, right, of my finished quilts for 2012.  I just realized that I missed 2!  Here is the mosaic I made of my finished projects.

I have to say I am pretty pleased with this.  The third photo in shows just one quilt but I actually made 3 of these, one for each of my kids.  The two tumblers in the red and grays were for Yolanda's nepehews.  Yolanda passed away and I was so happy to have been part of helping her get some of her quilts finished.

Here are two of the quilts I missed putting in the mosaic, both went to Margaret's Hope Chest

Quilts for MHC

The next mosaic is of a lot of the blocks, tops and fun I had in 2012

I did several swaps and block exchanges.

I ran 2 quilt-a-longs

I watched as my eldest DD bought her first house

I got to hang out with 2 of my favorite (famous) quilters that I proudly call my friends

I was able to meet a few blog friends in person

I went to NC and hung out with my DD2

I had surgery, recovered and did a LOT of Zumba

I realized my dad needs my help so began working on that.
I feel like I am getting things under control with him and my sisters.

I played a lot with my 2 best friends

I hung out with the love of my life

I got a project published on the Moda Bake Shop

I survived the death of my beloved cat, Jack
This was the most difficult thing of the whole year.
I miss him every single day!

All in all it was a good year.
I am already planning my goals for 2013.

I'll be back with those soon.

In the mean time, I wish you all a happy, healthy and joyous New Year!

Some Fun

I thought I would show you a photo of the unit I am considering getting for my sewing room

We need to measure to see if it will fit.

I found this amazing directions in this old magazine

To make this Modern Sewing Desk!

Pretty sweet huh??

And then, just because they were on a GREAT sale at Pink Castle, this set of half yard cuts of
Tula Pink's Salt Water!!!

So this was some of my recent fun!

Oh and cleaning out my clothes closet!
And lots of other cleaning too.
Plus 2 Zumbathons, but I can't actually show you that.

What are you doing for fun?
