I Have So Much To Share

 I FINALLY got my hair cut!  It's been almost a year and a half.  It got SO long.

I had to find a new stylist. 

 She took 7 inches off my hair and highlighted it.  I LOVE how it turned out!

I will be going back to her again.  

She did a fabulous job. 

 I feel so much better with my hair being shorter.

We have been going through TONS of stuff from the garage.  I cam across some old slides, used my light box to view them.  I found this "beauty" in the mix.  Me when I was 11 in my aunt's wedding dress holding my cat, Princess.

This was a nice find too. 

 Me with my best friend, Kathy in swimsuits my mom made us so we could match!!!

OK back to quilty content.  

I finished this Meadowland quilt quite some time ago.  

I just gifted it last weekend. 

 I made it for our priest. 

 I really love the quilt and the photos don't really do it justice.  

The colors were so icy in color and looked so beautiful together.  

It was difficult to get a pic in the bright sunlight but our priest, Father Kimball, loved it!

We had a birthday party for him at the church and I was able to gift it to him then.

I promise you I have been working on things, but need to take some photos. 

 As I said we are also going through the "stuff" in the garage and selling stuff off. 

 It is SLOW going but I am happy to be doing it.  It is time to purge!!

Meadowland Quilt

I determined to make a quilt for our priest for Christmas. 

 I know it is early but with a grand baby on the way I just wanted it done.  

I chose the Meadowland patter.  

It is a fun and easy pattern to make and goes together pretty fast once you have all the cutting done.  

I chose fabrics by Jennifer Sampou from her Shimmer lines.  

I had some in my stash and I had to add some from purchasing.  

I used some of the whisper pallet by Lizzy House too.  

These 2 lines compliment each other very nicely!  

I am totally in love with how this is coming along!!

There is no sashing in this quilt.

I have since finished the top and the back but have not taken any new photos. 

 I adore this quilt!  

These fabrics are totally up my alley and may need to be made into a quilt for myself.  

I have enough left over to make another one, just sayin!

I used Kona medium gray and another gray with the one left over block I had for the back.  

I will probably write something for the label on the block. 

Can't wait to give this to my quilter when she is back at work.  

(and me too).

Neverland Quilts

I have been wanting to make this quilt for some time now.  

I finally have a reason to make it, YAY!  

My daughter's best friend is expecting twin girls and I need to make 2 quilts.  

I decided I would make them different but use the same fabrics.  

I am using the Neverland line from Riley Blake.  

The colors are very soft and beautiful.  

I matched a few other plainer fabrics to this and got what I needed to make 2 baby quilts.

The very first pattern I thought of is the Meadowland pattern by Then Came June.  

As it turns out it was a really easy pattern to follow and 

comes together pretty quickly once you figure it out.  

I have directional fabrics in this line so the flying geese were a bit of a challenge but I got there.

I will show you my blocks so far.  

I have all 12 finished for the quilt but have not had time to assemble it yet.

I didn't have a mosaic maker that would do 12 but here are the first 9 all together.

There is no sashing in this quilt.

I love how this looks.

I bought a Tinkerbell fabric in gray for the backing.

I don't have it yet but will show you once I do.

I will show you the other one once I make some more progress on it.

I am using the Starbreak pattern from the Fort Worth Fabric Studio.

I began with a FQB and a few "companion" fabrics and 

had more than enough to make BOTH baby quilts!  

I do have the stars from the Starbreak pattern done.

I found the CUTEST coloring book page to use for the labels!

I am working on the embroidery for them so will show you when they are both finished.

I am off to a local quilt retreat today and will be back home on Sunday.

I am hoping to have 4 count them 4 baby quilt tops finished by the time I get home!!

I like to sew the label into the back rathe than sew it on after I get the quilt back from the quilter.

That means I have to wait for the baby to be born to add the name and DOB.

I try to embroider as much as I can on the labels.

If it is just words that is a bit more difficult.

I can usually get a all word one done in a couple of nights though.  

It just means the baby won't get the quilt right away, but I am so much happier with the look.
