Friday is Finish Day

I realize that I have not shown any of my recent finishes.
I was hoping to do a link up with another blogger but she takes August off, so I will just start posting my finished on Fridays (when I have them).
I can create a link if anyone is interested in sharing their weekly finishes too.
Please let me know if any of you would like that.

Additionally, I have added a link in my header to all the finished projects
(as a page) if you are interested.

Our priest is being transferred out to Arizona to a parish there.
I am sad to see him go.  He was the first priest at our now church, for me.
I have learned a lot from him and wanted to make something for him to remember us by,
so of course I made him a quilt.
Crosses seem to be the theme for me when making a quilt for any clergy and this was no exception.

It just so happened that we  made a great block in my Emerge do good stitches circle and
so I used that exact same pattern to make my quilt.

Apparently Finny decided that he wanted to "help" me finish this project!
I hope Father is not allergic!

I hand stitched the label and added it after the quilt was finished.
I really dislike doing that but it means I can get it to the quilter more quickly.  I
also, did not want to cut up the 108" wide Tula backing fabric (I know, I was being lazy).
Finn is my label model too.
He seems to be born to this!

I happened upon that fabric for binding at the retreat I went to in July so that was great.
It looks perfect with both the back and the front of my quilt!

I love how this quilt turned out.  Kathy, of Threadbear Quilting did a wonderful job.
The quilting is swirls with a cross in the center!

This is what the front turned out like.
The last few quilts have seriously depleted my low volume stash, LOL.
It is difficult to tell but one of the crosses, rather than being gray/black is navy.
Not sure why I ended up doing that but I love how it looks!

I hope you will share some finishes here with me too.
I will leave the linky open until noon tomorrow, jic anyone wants to share!
I would appreciate a link back too.

Enjoy your weekend!

WIPs With Friends

It has been such a busy week!  I am working on a quilt for our priest.
Here are some progress shots.
(It was late)

I have to sew it together yet.

Additionally we had some baby pea chicks hatch out!

Our daughter took us to the Belleville Strawberry Festival on Sunday.
So much fun!
See, there is even "fun" in the name of the slide!

I was good and did not get any, but Elephant Ears are my favorite fair food!
Although the GIGANTIC ribbon of potato chips loaded with goodies looked amazing!

As we were leaving the fair I spotted an animal rescue booth so I stopped.
I have been trying to find one to volunteer at.
I got some info from them and then asked them if they had any cats
(cuz you know I am down 4, LOL).
Oh, why yes they did.  They said OVER 100!!!  And the best part?
They had some right around the corner.
So you know I had to go and check it out.
I signaled to my husband and daughter and ran over to the tent of kittens.
Long story short, we are picking our 2 new kittens up tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both are long hair tabbies.
One is red and one is brown.  Both are boys.
We are trying to come up with names.
We have chosen two names but we will see when we get there if they really end up with those so I will introduce them to you tomorrow.
The rescue is  Friends of Michigan Animal Rescue.

I. Can. Not. WAIT!!!

OK so what are you working on
(I have a feeling it will take me time to get back into my sewing room with new babies in the house).

I am linking up with Sew Fresh Quilts and you can link up here and share what you are working on! The link will close tomorrow at 10am.

Bee Positive 2

I received a few more blocks over the weekend.
These beauties came from my friend Judy in Michigan.  They were awesome, thank you, Judy!

These came from my friend Jenny.
I got to meet Jenny in a class in Indiana a few years ago and we have kept in touch.
 Jenny makes the best quilts!
She is on IG as @krousegirl2 if you want to check her out.  You will NOT be sorry!
I especially love the disappearing cross and the bright green one with the word HOPE in the cross.  Thanks Jenny!

On sunday I was furiously sewing blocks together into rows.
Notably absent was my usual helper, hmmm.

I used every single block that I had received in this top and finished the top on Sunday night.

It is still a WIP because I need to send it to the quilter, but first I need to make the back.
I left some signature squares at the church and need to design a back to incorporate them as well as embroider the label and put that into the back too
( so I don't have to sew it on later).

I may not be blogging again until next week now as I leave for Glamp Stitchalot on Thursday morning and will be gone all weekend.
So look for more posts next week.

I will like this up to WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.

Thanks to everyone that helped me to get this done quickly.
Father Cooper is in the hospital preparing for a stem cell transplant
 so prayers are greatly appreciated!

Plus Quilt Gifted

I was fortunate enough to finish my quilt this week and to gift it yesterday to my friend that is going through treatment.
Here are some photos of the finished quilt.
Linking up to Crazy Mom Quilts Finish It Up Friday.

 This came out so great!
Thank you to everyone that sent me blocks!
I was able to get this quilt plus 2 smaller ones
(I still need to put the second one together)
out of all the blocks.

I am loving these cats.  It has been one of my "go to" gray fabrics!

Oh look, Sparty snuck in there.

I love Jenny's little Pezzy plus.

Metallics, and pearl bracelets and AGF oh my!

It was so fun to have skinny and chubby and such nice variety in this quilt.

You may remember that I did a large green cross on the back with the label centered but it really shows off the quilting on that flannel!

This may be my favorite photo of the group.  You can really see the quilting and the brilliant texture my LAQ, Kathy, gave this quilt.

I am working hard on the last wedding quilt (for now anyway).
It looks like my weekend is totally taken up with non-quilty things this weekend.
I am hoping to get time tonight to sew.

Anyone in North Carolina, Mebane area?
We are going to be in Mebane in 2 weeks.
We will be spending a few days in a cabin in the mountains near Ashville too.
So if you are anywhere near Durham, Charlotte or Raleigh lmk and maybe we can meet up!

Have a great weekend and thanks again, SO much for helping me complete this quilt so quickly!
The quilting community is the BEST!
