My Gifts For Little Miss

I gave some gifts from the baby registry, but I made a lot too.
It was exciting to get to make for a new baby.
First up were burp cloths.

I made 2 flannel crib sheets and one knit one (rainbow)

Self binding blanket

The bear fabric is flannel and the green is a very soft Minky

I embroidered bear faces on both the white and pink Onise.
These were 3-6 month size and a real pain to do!
Came out really cute though.

The bear face ones are the ones my daughter requested.
The other 2 were total surprises for her.

I loved this little rainbow design.
I found this adorable Onsie at Hobby Lobby!
Who knew?
Rainbow pattern was from ETSY
Much easier since this was a 6 month size.

This unicorn face turned out well too.
I put a cushy fleece on the back so the embroidery wouldn't be scratchy on Little Miss

I found this onsie on Amazon.
Unicorn embroidery was from ETSY.

These were so fun to do (well mostly, LOL)
When my daughter opened these, she said maybe she was going to have me
 make more embroidered clothing!

I have a quilt to get working on next.
Stay tuned.

First Finish of 2023

I used to donate plasma twice a week for about 2 years.
Sometimes my right arm was difficult to hit, enter Brittny.
She was always able to hit my vein on the first try!
Spending so much time at the plasma center I got to know her pretty well.
She and her hubby were wanting to have a baby.
I had to stop  donating because of the breast cancer medication.
She emailed me to let me know they are expecting a baby!!
They are doing the nursery in Winnie the Pooh.
So of course I had to make some stuff for the nursery, right?

I got the quilt top done before we went to NC.
That meant I was able to get it to my LAQ before I left too.
I used a great Winnie the Pooh Minky for the back.
I was also able to make a few other things for the nursery.
I made some self binding blankets, using WTP Minky and pink flannel.
They came out really cute!

I made 2 crib sheets, one flannel and one knit.
I used the leftovers to make burp cloths and reusable wash rags too.

I got the quilt back all quilted up with Bees!!!
It turned out so darling!!!
I really wanted to use this panel for the center but I didn't have one.
I went online and traded to get it.

Look how cute this Minky is too.
Bonus that it is super soft.

I messaged her and asked if we could meet up on Saturday at her work.
I told her I had a little something to drop off for her.
She was completely blindsided and so thankful.
I think she loved all of it!

I took a pic of the two of us.
Isn't she so cute too??

And guess what the baby's name is going to be?

AVERY Jane.

Can you believe that?
Baby is due next month and now her layette is ready for her!

Pillow Cases and Self Binding Blankets Galore!!

More things I have been making.
LOADS of pillow cases, some crib sheets and some self binding blankets.
I made a few more nap blankets too.
Trying to power through some of my fabric.
Although I do have to confess I bought Christmas flannel for the pillowcases.

Four pirate self binding blankets. Check.

Someone claimed this one, LOL.
Aren't these otters the cutest?

Self binding blanket with airplanes.

These were all the self binding blankets I made.

The first of the pillowcases.

With matching self binding blanket.

I wish I had bought more of this print.  This is a pillow case and matching crib sheet.

Pair of pillowcases.

Crib sheet

Two pairs of pillow cases

Pair of pillow cases

Found that faux fur in the remnant bin so had to make this self binding blanket with it.

I totally fell for these vintage reindeer.  2 pair of pillow cases.

These black Christmas cats had to be made into pillow cases for my bed!
I made another pair reversed but forgot to take a photo

Christmas gnome pillowcases.

That's all I have for now.
If you are interested in making pillowcases I have a tutorial on my tutorial page and
 you can find it here
I also have tutorials for the crib sheets and self binding blankets on my tutorial page.
The link is in the header for Mama Spark's Tutorials.

Most of the pillow cases have been wrapped and are ready to gift.
Some will be gifted in person.

Are you making things for Christmas this year?

The Elves Have Been Busy

I am so sorry it has been so long since I posted last!
I have been busy sewing up a storm and can finally share some of the things I have been making!
I can't believe how far behind I am in posting the things I have been working on.
YIKES!
First up, I made a cute little panel quilt for a friend of my daughter that had a baby.
I fell in love with this panel and the coordinating fabric with zero idea who I would be making it for.

Isn't this sun so cute!

I had a fantastic Minky that I was able to use for the backing.

You already saw some of the things I made for new baby Lynn.
She is the baby of a friend of my daughter also.
I made a few more things for baby Lynn too.
I used the pattern called Nightingale and the fabric is Dorothy's Journey.,

I used the panel from the fabric line for the back.
I embroidered a label (you can see it under the panel.)

I also found this cute embroidery that I added above the panel.

I made her a really cute self binding blanket too.

Enough for today!
I will post more soon.
As I said I have so much to catch up on here.

Catching Up

I have been doing a LOT of binding lately.
It's not great for photos but it is what I have been working on.
That and embroidering and sewing on labels.
I have bound 2 quilts for babies and now working on a third,
to gift to a very special friend for her birthday (which I will miss this year).

I have also been making yummy keto foods from new to me recipes.
Is there any interest in that?

I've also been giving plasma
(right now twice a week, but once that commitment is over I will give once a week).
Since I have recovered from Covid, my antibodies in my plasma can help others that need the antibody therapy to get better.
 WHEW.
The plasma donations make me a little tired for the day though so I just take it easy on those days.

Wanna see some of these things now?
First up was binding a second baby quilt.
I think I showed the other baby quilt, the Dogs in Sweaters.
This one is made using the Neverland fabric line by Jill Howarth for RBD.
You can see the corner of the label peeking out there.
I need to get a photo of the front of this one all quilted.
 So sweet.
These Neverland fabrics are so cute!
I will show the labels once the quilts have been gifted.

So some of that keto food.
This is a pulled pork sandwich.
I made the port in the Instant Pot and it was so easy and so good!
Recipe can be found here

After 2 days of pulled pork I wanted something else.
I was at Aldi getting eggs and saw their shaved beef.
Made me think Philly Cheese Steaks.
I found a casserole on Wholesome Yum but I changed it a little bit.
I used the shaved beef instead of ground beef, I added half a package of sliced mushrooms.
I didn't have provolone cheese so I added some shredded mozzarella and then slices of swiss cheese.
 It was so good!
Really easy to make and so yummy!
This is what it looked like coming out of the oven.

This is what it looked like on my plate before I devoured it!

My daughter asked me to make a self binding blanket for a friend of hers.
Is there any interest in a self binding blanket tutorial?
Or do you all already know how to make them?
They had a baby recently and their last name is fox, so a fox version it was!
 Finny approved of it too.

I had a little bit of the flannel left over so I cut it into 5" squares
and paired it with some orange flannel and made a burp cloth to go with the blanket.
I am just waiting for the address to send this one away.

I recently gifted a chenille blanket to a friend to pass along to a friend of hers that had a baby.
It seems the package may have gotten misplaced/lost.
I keep hoping it will show up.

I had a quilt here that was custom quilted but the colors were not something I would ever be able to use. A friend of mine is raising money for a little boy and his family (he is in the hospital).
When her Go Fund Me page reaches certain milestones she gives away a quilt,
so I offered up this quilt.
I said if she preferred she could give to the family or the grandmother
(who is keeping their other child and is her friend).
So I am gifting that in the near future.

Doesn't it feel so good to send good out into the world?
That quilt was not bringing joy to anyone sitting in my closet!

One of my all time favorite sayings is "What goes around comes around".
Have a great day my friends!!
