Avery's Christmas Stocking

I brought everything to make a Christmas stocking for Avery
that matched the ones I made for his mom and dad.
It is a pattern by Fiber Works, but not the fox.
I wanted his stocking to have a fox on it.
His red hair always make me think of foxes.
So I did what I always do and took to the internet.
I LOVE using coloring pages to find unique things to applique.
That's how I found the fox I wanted to use.
I did have to enlarge him though to make him fit the stocking as these are really BIG.

You can see in this photo the progress.
I cut out the stocking front and back.
I used Steam-a-Seam Lite 2 to fuse the fox, name and snowflake down.
I free motion stitched around all of it using black thread, except for the snowflake, I used white.
Then I layered it with batting and quilted 1" squares using monofiliment thread.

I used this cute Christmas mouse fabric for the lining.

This is how it finished.
I love how it turned out!
Fun fact, the half of the snowflake on Avery's stocking
is the other half of the one I used on him mama's stocking!

It was Avery approved!

Here are all three hanging together.

I was so happy that I was able to get this done in the camper!

I am really so pleased with how they have all turned out.

I am thinking this may be my last complete project for 2020.
I am going to a friend's house for the weekend and we will be sewing up a storm!
Maybe I will get that first baby quilt top finished!!!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

We worked all weekend to get the tree decorated, the house decorated and cleaned.
I have to confess, I abandoned my hubby on Sunday to go and sew though.
I promised a very special young lady a pair of Christmas stockings and one was partially finished with the other one just a vision dancing in my head!

Here is the first one I finished.
It is always a challenge to remember how to do that cuff!
The first one is always the slowest.

I was waffling about whether to make the second one the same as the first or different.
In the end I went with a different one.
Mainly because I loved that background fabric so much!
It is from Kate Spain's Flurry line.

I stayed up past my bedtime to finish the second one, but I was so close I just didn't want to stop!
I have one more to make in blue and gold, but it will not have a name until next year.
I am trying to decide whether I want to just make it now while I am in the groove or wait.
It is always so much easier to do when it is fresh in my mind,
but I have at least one more Christmas gift I need to make.

Of course there are always more things we want to make but at some point I need/want to stop and just enjoy my family and Christmas.
I think this next gift (and one more shower thing, not sewing related) is going to be the end.

What last minute things are you working on?

Friday Finish

I couldn't talk about this one before Christmas but I can now!
I made yet another Christmas stocking to join the other 2 I did last year for my nephew and his wife.  They had a beautiful baby girl and I got to make her a stocking to match her mama and papa's.
I got to work with my favorite blue and gold color combination (NOT).

I used the pattern found here to make it.
I always put off making things that are not quilts.
They give me anxiety and I fret about how things will turn out.
I did the patchwork then laid out the stocking pattern to cut it out.

Here it is all cut out and ready to make.

I am really happy with how this turned out.
Although Katherine is a l-o-n-g name to fit on the front of a stocking!
I told them to name their next one a shorter name!! LOL

Here is her daddy's stocking

Her mama's stocking

And baby makes three!!

I'm linking  up to Crazy Mom Quilts finish it up Friday.
