Raspberry Kiss Block Swap

I joined in with a swap!
The Roanoke MQG is doing a Raspberry Kiss block swap.
My friend, Kaillie was joining in so I signed up too.
Then I talked my friend, Mel into joining us.
The three of us are doing a side swap too of rainbow colors.

These are my fabric choices.  I signed up for two sets of blocks.

I got both sets of blocks made (20 of each)

I then began working on the rainbow for Kaillie's blocks.  I got her rainbow finished!

I got all of Mel's blocks cut out and started.
 The BAM,  COVID hit me.
If you follow me on IG you know that my husband has been pretty sick
(we started week 5 on Sunday).
He went to get a second Covid test for him on Wednesday and it turned up positive.
 Previously it had been negative.
So I scheduled one for me and mine was also positive.
At that point I had zero symptoms.
Today I feel like I have a really bad head cold. \
Whenever I get sick it always settles into my sinuses.
I'm not feeling great but no worse than I feel when I get a cold.
Hoping that it doesn't last long as my motivation to do anything is non-existent.

I'll keep you posted on how we are recovering!
Keep your fingers crossed for a short illness for me.

Flannel Doll Quilt

I wanted to make a doll quilt for a gift for a special little girl that is upcoming.
I thought I might use that elephant quilt I did recently but it really is too big for a doll quilt.
So back to the drawing board.
I seem to make a lot of crib sheets and burp cloths out of flannel.
I have been cutting the leftovers from all my flannel projects into usable squares.
 I cut 6", 5", 3" and 2.5" squares.
For this doll quilt I decided to pull from this stash.
I mostly have 5" squares but thought those might be too big for what I wanted to do.
I started off with the 2.5" squares I had
then cut from the larger squares I had to make up the difference.
It was not quite big enough for me so I added a flannel border (also from scraps).
I pick up remnant pieces of minky/fleece when I find them
so had a nice yellow piece to use for the back.
I put batting scraps together for the inside too.
Then I quilted it in the ditch.
I had some leftover satin binding so used that up for the binding.
 WIN-WIN for this cutie!

I think it turned out perfectly for a little doll quilt!
Now I want to use some of those 5" squares to make a few baby quilts.
I have so many other things already begun so I am going to try to refrain.

Do you find it hard not to get sidetracked when you are working on something too?
 It's.  So.  Hard!

Left Overs Made Into A Sweet Baby Quilt

I had bought some sweet Daisy Kingdom fabric a LONG time ago.
I finally made a crib sheet from the Daisy Kingdom fabric and
had some leftover fabrics that I cut up into squares.
I decided that one of the things I want to do this year is use from the fabric I already own so I dug in my stash to make this one.
You may notice some fabrics from previous quilts in this one too.
The blue was used in the Dorothy's Journey quilt and the gray and
the gold and white stripe were in my stash.
The purple minky on the back was used as backing for the purple quilt
I made for my SIL a few years ago.

I decided to try to quilt this one myself.  I just did simple in the ditch quilting.

I was able to use leftover binding for this quilt too.
I also got to use one of my new labels on the back too!

It's been a long few weeks.  Chris has been really sick.
He has been sicker that I ever remember in the last 40 years!
He got a rapid Covid test and it came back negative, but I am not sure it was accurate.
He had a cough, fever, headache, sore throat, ear ache, body aches, and exhaustion.
We are heading into week 4 on Sunday.
Most of the symptoms are improving, except his sore throat and ear ache.
He is enjoying using his new quilt though.

I hope you are all managing to stay well.

More soon!

Quilt As You Go Thread Catchers

I decided that I wanted to make some cute little fabric baskets for scraps/threads when sewing.
I found the cutest free pattern over at the Sewing Chick's website
I formed a Rejects Birthday Club this year where we send one homemade item and 2 blocks of the birthday girl's choice along with whatever else you want.
You saw in my past post the adorable little pineapple pouch I made for my friend Paula.
Then I found these baskets!
They were SEW much fun to make.
I could not stop making them!!
I have my regular retreat coming up in February
so made 2 for the other 2 women going on retreat with me.

I put my labels in them too.

I made these 2 for me.
One for home and one for the camper.
I'm currently using an old tissue box, LOL.

If you make some of these you will also be in love with making these.
I would love to see yours if you do.

Rejects Birthday Club

Remember when I went to the Reject's Retreat last August?  I decided that perhaps we needed to do a birthday club.  One of the members declined so I invited another friend (now an honorary reject) to join in.

The premise is that we each choose a quilt block that the rest of us make 2 of and send during the month of your birthday.  Additionally, one needs to send a homemade gift.  Paula was the first up in January.  I made a Pineapple Pouch in her favorite color of purple,  I found the cutest paw zipper pull to put on it too and lined it with a Tula Pink print.  Her dog passed away recently and I had found a pair of socks and a soap dispenser that looked like her dog so I bought those and sent along.  I sent some needle threaders, and some amazing glue tops.

The block she requested was the cutest strawberry block.
I pulled some reds from my stash and made up 2 blocks for her.

I forgot to get a photo of the adorable zipper pull.
It was a paw print!

More tomorrow!

Gnome Saying?

I finished my gnome pillow cover and I could not be happier with how he turned out.
I used the Clarence the Gnome pattern by Moss and Lotus for the paper pieced gnome and then made my own pillow cover using the gnome for the center.

I didn't have enough of the low volume fabric or the blue from the front to use for the back.
I chose the navy with aqua accents for on the back.
I used the gnome fabric for an accent to cover the zipper.

I've been trying to do a few quick makes.
Will have more to share soon.
