AQS Purchases

I could NOT walk away from all the cute children's quilt patterns I saw at the AQS show.
I snagged just a few (gross understatement, LOL)

I thought about trying to embroider some dish towels for hubby for Christmas.
I bought two different patterns.
I thought some would be cute in the camper too.

I love this book and can't wait to make things from here too.

I bought some cute cat fabric and found some awesome Petosky stone fabric too.
The rock hound in me could not walk away.  I used to hunt for these every summer up north.

I hope to start on a new baby quilt soon that will be using these colors.
I need 1/2" and 1" rick rack for the quilt as well.
I found some half inch so bought that.  Now to look for the 1".
Anyone got a source for that??

By far the BEST find of the show is this original Heather Ross Mendocino!!
I could not believe my eyes when I spotted this.
It is the original NOT the reprinted stuff!
 Could it get any better?
You bet, it was on the clearance table too!

Stopped at Stitched Studio and found these beauties.

VERY productive trip.
I can't wait to dig in and sew.

I really need my "have to" projects to be done, LOL.

Sewing Challenge Day 3,4 and 5

I think every quilter could go on and on about fabric they ask themselves,
"What was I thinking when I bought this?"
 I posted this photo.

LOL because I am a Spartan!!
It seems like I am always working with blue and gold, EW! HAHA

The Day 4 challenge was to post about favorite fabric purchased with Day 5 something you missed out on.

Mine are one and the same.
 I missed out of Mendocino.
I have since bought and swapped for some.
I still don't have the entire collection but I am slowly working my way toward having it.

I saw this when it first came out, at a local shop.  I thought the mermaids were kind of creepy so passed them by.  Now I just KICK myself!  Then I was at a warehouse shop with my friend and her DIL was a big HR fan.  I found many sample cards with Mendo on them and handed them over to her for her DIL.  I surely wish I had kept a little for myself, but that's life and the choices we make isn't it?

If anyone has a little of the plum swimming sisters I would be happy to trade.
I have some I could spare of some of the seahorses, and the swimming sisters in white with the pink octopi.
I have lots of  Munki Munki that I could trade too.

Swaps and Stash

Just a quick little post to show you my latest swap.
She even sent more of the swimming sisters then we had agreed on, so sweet!

And did you notice the card above it?
Yep, it's a card!

Clever girl, she had it made at Shutterfly.
I know what I will be doing in the future!!
I love learning about new things like this!!!

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you know about my obsession with the Mendo line above and the Sweet and Swell line from Moda.

I saw this destash on IG and could NOT help myself.
IG sure can be tough on the pocketbook
(thanks Mary!)

I do have some photos to share with you that show the flooding in Grand Rapids from when I was there last Friday.
It was quite something to see.
I will try to post those later today or tomorrow.

Off to go and finish my genotyping.
Busy day here in the lab!

Sure, You Can Pay Me In Mendocino!

Have you ever seen that commercial where some girl wants to pay for something she asks the  cashiers if she can pay with Trident's Seven Layer gum?
They say "Sure, you can pay us with gum".
Then the custodian says "No one ever wants to pay me with gum".
Here it is if you haven't seen it.

I know you are asking "Why is she sharing this with us?"

I did some pattern testing for Jacquie Gering recently.
She called me last week and one of the things we were talking about was Mendocino.
I recently saw someone asking for a HUGE amount of money for some of Heather Ross's fabric.  Jacquie piped up and told me that she had quite a stash of it.
 I was seriously swooning!
So I quipped, "You can pay me in Mendocino".
She laughed and this is what arrived at my house today.

I almost fell over when I opened the package!
 She had this note inside:

I have the BEST friends!
 Thanks Jacquie.
I love it and am happy to help you out whenever you need it!!

Aren't Friends The BEST?

I am overwhelmed by the blogging friends that have all taken time to
send me some blues for my dad's quilt.
I received more in the mail this week.
This is a GREAT thing as I need to add some more variety to the mix.
Also I received a package from Australia from Badskirt Amy
She just happened upon some Mendocino and I scored BIG with her help.
 Thanks Amy!

These blues also came along from Amy.
Hey, so I just noticed the black spots on both of these pics.
I will have to check and see if that is really on the fabrics when I get home!
I suppose I can work around! haha

From Amy

These are the other blue packages I have received, one from Brenda
(a fellow Michigan quilter)
Thanks, Brenda!

The other is from Jan Maree.

Spectacular!! Thanks Jan Maree.

I did manage to get a quilt bound this week but have not been able to get any photos, hopefully soon! DH came home last night and it was good to have him home.
I brought the dog with me to go and pick him up as he was going to be at his work
 so the dog was allowed.
I think she almost had a heart attack when she saw him, it was hysterical!!
She may be even more excited to see him than I was! LOL.
The cats were not impressed.

Have a wonderful day!
