Camping In Berlin Ohio

 We loaded up our fiver and drove to Berlin on Sunday and came back on Thursday.  
We got to meet up with our friend Kailie (that we met at the campground in NC). 

 She is working near the campground and she and her dog are there for a few months. 

 It was SO much fun!  
Before I forget I wanted to share  what the boys got their dad for Father's Day.

This is how they ride in the cab of the truck when we go anywhere in the truck/fiver.

We didn't want to pack up food for dinner on Sunday so Kailie took us out for dinner.

We went to Charm and shopped at Miller's Dry Goods.-  

OH MY Goodness! 

 I went a little bit crazy.

I did get the extra wide back Minky I was going to order online. 

 I also got more of the background I needed for a quilt I am working on.

 I LOVE Funky Friends stuffed animal patterns and found one already made up in guess what animal?  A FOX!!!

One of the shops we went to had this amazing quilt hanging up.

Now I am thinking I need to buy this book so I can make this quilt.

We went to a quilt shop in Sugar Creek, the Swiss town near Berlin. 

 They have the world's largest cuckoo clock!

Chris managed to find this soda. 

 Can't wait to give this to Avery when we see him again.

Kailie pointed out the buggy parking in the Walmart parking lot!

I ate some fry pies, my favorite, while we were there.  

We went to a great garden center as we love their fairy garden stuff there.

The views were so perfect. 

 We had amazing weather.

The last night we were there we went out to dinner at the Farmstead.

Second Thanksgiving

I know things have been a bit quiet around here of late. 

I seem to have been doing a lot of traveling in the most recent few weeks. 

 Last week we traveled to NC to visit our daughter and celebrate second Thanksgiving with them.  

We arrived on Wednesday and left for home very early on Sunday morning.  

It was a great trip and we had so much fun! 

 This was our welcoming committee.

One day we went to Mebane, where she used to live and 

walked around, had lunch, then went to the outlet mall.  

So FUN!  

One of the shops had this stitchery.  

I thought it would be perfect for their home so I bought it. 

She asked me if I thought I could get it finished during our visit. 

 I just laughed and said I could probably finish it in an hour (and I did). 

 It still needed to be pressed and trimmed but at least you can see it finished.

One day we went to the place the rehersal dinner will be at, the Pit in Durham. 

 I took this video from the roof top.  

There are tables and chairs outside and inside too. 

 Really neat place. 

 It used to be a 7-Up bottling company!

We visited a really nice mall while we were there too.  

I think it was called South Point.  

We were shopping for a MOB dress.  

Isn't this fountain fantastic?

Kelsey and I went to spin class on Saturday morning.  

It as HARD and my butt bones HURT!

But...I did it.

We went home and showered and then we decided to go out and look at some of the hotel choices.  She wanted us to see three of the hotels that are not chains in downtown Durham.  

We went to Unscripted, 21c and the Durham.  

This is the lobby of the Durham. 

 It used to be a bank!  

All of the hotels were very unique. 

21c might not be kid friendly, so keep that in mind.  

The lobby is on the second floor and 

when we got there there were three gigantic photos of a completely nude man!  

21c has rotating art work throughout the hotel but still, 

if you had littles I would not choose that hotel. 

Anyway, back to the Durham.

This hotel has a rooftop bar so we went up there.  Pretty sweet.

 There is the sheltered part above and then there are tables out in the open.  

She wants to go here after the reception in her dress for a drink.  

Should be a lot of fun!

Finally home to cook "Thanksgiving dinner". 

Turkey, potatoes, mac and cheese and stuffing.  I was missing veggies but happy to stop cooking.

Marble cheesecake for desert.  YUM, one of my favorites!

They all seemed to like the cheesecake too.

It was a wonderful visit and can you believe it, not one single quilt shop!

I sure do miss this girl!

WIPs With Friends

How is it always Wednesday already??  

I swear the weeks go by so quickly lately.  

I forgot to show some fabric I bought last week when we were on our way home from GR.  

All of it was on sale, yay!

I did get my Mrs Big Foot all appliqued and the receiving blanket made.

My girls were "helping" me.  

I put this quilt top together and sewed a back for it. I got the batting cut and sent it to the LAQ today.

I also managed to sew almost 150 HST (three blocks worth) for my Ocean Waves quilt.  

They are all pressed and ready to trim.

We ended up with a few more trees so I am going to make another Big Foot like in this top.

I think we are going to make them into pillows.

Sewing Machine Heaven

I was fortunate enough to get to visit David (aka Fred Sanford) at his warehouse

 in Munith, Michigan this past weekend. 

 It was a beautiful fall day and I needed to get three vintage sewing machines out of my house. 

 I had inherited one from a friend that was a Montgomery Ward machine. 

 I had no experience with this brand so that was the first to go.  

I had 2 more that I had picked up for relatively cheap.  

One at the Salvation Army and one at a bird swap (don't ask).

This one was a beauty but was missing the bobbin case and had a few chips on the paint.  

Cabinet was in great shape too.

This one is the one I got at the bird swap.  

She was sitting in the grass just begging someone to take her home.  

I haggled with the guy and bought her for $12!

What I was really after was a new cabinet to put my 185J into.  

Since it is a 3/4 size machine most of the vintage cabinets won't fit her. 

 Off we went to see David with all three machines loaded into my Civic.

When we walked into his place it was cabinets as far as we could see!

For perspective this is me standing in the sea of machines!

I managed to go home with a cabinet for my 185J, a new spool pin and felt and the manual. 

 PLUS, I cleared out three machines for someone else to love.  

He had this little beauty there but not for sale.  Awwwww JAMIT, now I want one of these!

Hubby wanted to stop in Chelsea and on our way there was a beautiful rainbow.  

Stopped off in Chelsea MI, home of Jiffy mix.

Picked up some new mittens and are they ever nice!

We stopped off at the Chelsea Alehouse where I got a Lost Lenore beer. 

 It was so good we bought a growler to take home!

I worked furiously on finishing some binding 

(sorry Ellen, but I had to do something while watching the game). 

 I had a little help.

I also received some more blocks for the Bee Positive 2 quilt over the weekend. 

 It was now time to get that baby made into a top!
