POKE-N-STAB Reunion

Last night there was a reunion of many of the people from the church quilt group, the POKE-N-STAB quilters. It was hosted by the woman that ran the group before me, Jeanne. I decided to go and see all the ladies that no longer attend the group (me now included in that list).
I did snap a few pics and thought I would share with you all. Here are a few group pictures showing some of the "used to attend" with the current attendees.

Ruth P, Deidre, Eshter, Cori, Kathy, Connie and MaryLouise, Shirley, and Angela

Here are Pilar and Kim (with baby Weston). Pilar is now running the group with Ruth Ann, and I think Kim is the youngest in the group. The photo next to this one is Ruth Ann and Cori. Ruth Ann is the tall one and Cori is the one that owns her own online quilt shop. (You should go and check it out, her prices on pre-cuts is better than most other shops and she is a really good friend and a genuinely nice person)
Pilar, Kim and WestonRuth Ann and Cori
So I know you are all *dying* to see me, right so here is a photo with Cori, Allie (Ruth Ann's granddaughter), Stacy and Me. As I write this I realize my name is the only one that doesn't end in i or y!
Cori, Allie, Stacy, and Me
This is the first time I had met Allie and she is a really sweet girl. I'm glad RA brought her along. We had a nice time chatting.
Jeanne had a surprise for us, a woman that does work in Ghana with the women there. She has taught them how to make soap and how to dye their own fabrics so they can sell them and have money for their families. It was an interesting presentation and the fabric was beautiful. I have no photos of the fabric though as when I came inside (outside with Kim and a fussy baby) most of it was either bought or packed up = ( I think they would like to market the fabric more so the women can make more money but are not sure how to go about doing that. If anyone has any ideas please email me. Cori and I ended up staying talking with Jeanne and her sister, Kathy until 11pm! It was a wonderful night.

Anyway, I also wanted to let you all know that I have lost another 10 inches bringing the grand total up to 33 inches lost (and 35.4 pounds) so far. Thanks for the encouragement!

The Power of Prayer

Wow! Remind me to ask you guys to pray for me sometime will ya? I have an update on my friend. I told you they took her off the vent earlier this week and I don't think anyone expected her to live through that. Well, I received a call last night telling me that not only did she live through that but she is up walking around and very lucid! Even reminded her daughter that her electric bill needed to be paid, and what her sign in was so she could do it online!!! The power of God is amazing! Thank you so much for all your prayers.

Her doctors told her that the kind of meningitis she had is rare and that when someone did get that kind only 1% even survive it! Obviously she still has some things in this life to do yet. I hope she will take this glorious opportunity given to her and make the most of it. Because of the brain surgery they didn't think she would be able to hear at all out of the ear closest to the surgical site but her hearing is the same as it was going in. What a miraculous thing!

I am up early, big thunderstorms this morning and all the cats *needed* me. Autumn was outside so she was crying at the bedroom window to come in and she was soaking wet!

I am off to the gym soon so I will leave you for now. I have an idea about a quilt that I want to share with you all later though. Have a great day!!

Some Sad News

You all must remember that I left the church ladies quilt group a short while ago right? Last week one of the CL's was put into the hospital with meningitis. There was surgery and we all waited for news. I just found out today that tomorrow they will be taking her off life support. I know she did not want to live that way. They will let nature take its course, so her fate is in God's hands. Please pray for her and for her family as they struggle through this time. I will keep you posted.

Seems kind of silly to mention this but I have not posted my weigh in this week. I stayed exactly the same. Bummer. Hopefully this week will be better.

Mosen and another "Peek"

This is my cat, Mosen. I don't know how many of you have cats but somehow they always manage to find the sunshine don't they? Isn't he handsome? I thought you might like to know that, officially, I really did lose another 2 pounds this week, bringing the grand total so far to 29.2 pounds!! If you have joined me on this weight loss adventure be sure and tell me how it is going for you too!
Mosen in the sunlight

I have been working on my quilt. I hope to have a pattern available soon. Here is another sneak peek. I love how it is turning out and can't wait to share the top with you! Stay tuned.
Another peek

In addition, you all remember that I left the church's quilt group right? Well one of the CL's was admitted to the hospital yesterday with meningitis. She is on life support. Please, if you have a quick minute, say a prayer for her and her family. I really appreciate it.

What a Day!

It has been an interesting day here at my house. I went to bed mulling over some "stuff" that I had happen to me that led me to quit running the church quilt group. Some emails were sent to me that helped me with this decision. I have been the leader of the POKE-N-STAB quilters for the last 5 years and until recently have enjoyed it tremendously. I had been thinking of stepping dwon, felt God leading me in a different direction. I was not sure. (Or maybe I was but I wasn't listening like I should have) As often happens when He wants you to go another direction "things" will keep happening that eventually leave you no other choice (unless you are a complete dunderhead, which I am NOT). Mind you the *suggestions* were offered in the "spirit of cooperation" all the while saying things that hurt my feelings. Apparently "feelings are facts" according to my email. I was surprised to learn this. I thought facts were facts? Maybe science should be based on feelings, eh? Anyway, why is it when someone says hurtful things they try to make it like that's not what they are doing? I really hate that. Just have the courage to be honest. The last thing, kind of the icing really, was that one of the women sent her chastisement of me to the entire group! Gosh, that was special. If you are going to take me to task, please do it privately, have that much consideration for my feelings, at the very least.

I was told that I had treated the adult women like children when in actual fact they sometimes acted like that. I feel like I have been a good leader and for the most part I will miss many of the women in the group. I will not miss the stress of always having to have something ready for everyone to do, and never having time to work on anything I wanted to do, for 5 years. I really debated about writing about this but I will say this to anyone that is reading from the group, IT'S MY BLOG AND I CAN WRITE WHATEVER I WANT TO. If you don't like what I write don't read it. Please, don't email me about it either because I will not send you a nice email back. My feelings are deeply hurt and you would be smart to just leave it alone.

There now, I feel better and can go on and tell you how wonderful the day was today (if you are still with me! You are still with me right?) I went to the gym this morning for my weigh in and I lost 6.6 pounds!!!!! This moved me up to 2nd place in the weight loss challenge!! Now there is something to feel good about. See I will now have one more night a week for the gym too!

I came home and did some housecleaning and laundry (YUCK), then I decided to work on the quilt I had cut out for the Veterans Home. It was supposed to go through the church, but I didn't want some poor veteran to lose out so I worked on it. I am at the stage of trying to decide...Border or no border. What do you think? I think I know what I will do but would like your opinions and no I don't have other border fabric so it is this:
Border
or this
No Border 02
So please let me know what you think about the border.

I appreciate having all my blogging friends out there for support. I would never write mean things to you all. I am going to go and finish up the laundry and get some dinner going. May have to pull some fabrics for another quilt tonight too. Someone I know is having a baby and I found a pattern that would be perfect. The shower was today (I was supposed to be at the church) but I think it will go quickly so maybe I can have it done before the baby arrives.
Thanks for listening!!

Sunday is Here!

I know I told you I still had lots to share so I guess you will have to bear with me. First of all, I received another block for Matt's quilt. This one is from Laurie in ME. This was her first attempt at a string block (there have been several that this was a new technique for). I think she did a wonderful job! Thanks, Laurie!!
Matt's Blcok from Laurie B
I thought you might like to see the things I got in the mail from Fabric.com. Would you like that?? I thought so!! First up is the backing for Matt's quilt
Matt's Back
Followed by a yard of each of these fun fabrics
Fabric.com
And I could NOT resist these Nicey Jane fabrics, all of it was on sale too!!!
Nicey Jane FQ pak and JR
I just fell in love with Nicey Jane. My DD2 is in love with Verna by Kate Spain and that is what I chose for my Jelly Roll fabric for the quilt a long. Here is my first block. I really love how it turned out too.
JR Quilt a long Block One Verna
It was tricky to get those little squares to line up right, but after ripping one of them out 4 times, it is as good as it is going to get!!!

Now I am off to work on cutting out a couple of quilts for PTM and me to work on at the next church group meeting. I sent out an email letting them all know that we will be working on quilts for the veterans. The quilts need to be 48 x 48" or larger and have a patriotic theme or used patriotic fabric. I am doing the pattern "Make Life Sweet". I am very excited to try this pattern with these colors.
Sweet Make Life Quilt Pattern Sweetwater
Why? Because I can use some of the red and blue strips I have left over from Matt's quilt and hopefully it will go together quickly. I am making some changes in how we are working at the church. Only works of charity this year. After talking with Debbie Miller and father Pat, they would like to see us concentrate on doing works of charity to support the mission of the church. I think this is an excellent idea! No more idle hands at our meetings. Everyone needs to bring something, related to charity, to work on to every meeting. No one should be showing up empty handed. I hope this will allow the group to refocus and breathe some new life into it. First up are quilts for the veterans!!

More Chubby Chicks

I kind of chuckled when I read what I put as the title of this post. I mean the quilt not me and my friends!!

One of the CL's stitched the binding on and PTM hand turned it. I wanted to show you because I love how the polka dots look on this. You can see that I wrote directly on the back of the quilt for the label. This will be going to St. Patrick's Catholic Church for their raffle. I hope I can purchase some tickets. I left it with our priest tonight so he can deliver it to the other parish. Fly away little chickies!!

This is a quilt made from blocks given to the church group by a man named Jack. His mother passed away and he donated all her quilting supplies to us, including many partially finished quilts, some quilt tops and blocks. These were orphan so one of the CL's put it together. I gave it to the pastoral associate for a woman undergoing extensive chemo in our parish. I hope she is comforted by this.

I have a lot of stuff going on in my own life right now and am praying it all turns out well. My dad needs to have some testing done and at this time I am asking you to keep him in your prayers. I hope and pray it will all turn out OK. Thanks for your prayers. His next test is March 17th. I am feeling very stressed by this since I am the only one in the family to take care of him and both of my sisters (both are handicapped). Work is super busy at the moment too and going to the gym every day is a challenge but I am doing it. I am finding, to my surprise that I feel so much better when I do. I have not missed a day since beginning except for Sundays because they are not open!

Have a great weekend. Two hours of work out tomorrow morning and weigh in at the gym too. Wish me luck!!

Weight Loss Check In

Ok, it is Tuesday already and I have not updated you about the progress of my weight loss. I weighed in at WW and lost 2 more pounds this week (by their scale). Then, yesterday, they measured me and compared my new measurements with the ones from when I began. I lost a total of 7.5" overall. Funny thing is that I lost 2 inches from my right thigh and 1.5 inches from my left thigh! I guess I am a little lopsided!!! LOL. Oh, I almost forgot, while I was doing the circuit tonight with PTM, a lady I knew from Curves started talking with us. Apparently she is a hand quilter. I have a really OLD project that needs to be finished and she volunteered to take it and finish it for me!!! I am going to let her do it too. I offered to pay her or piece something for her but she was not having it. I am going to pack it up in my car and hope I see her tomorrow!! She was one of the only reasons I kept going to Curves, as she worked there and was so nice to me.

Not much on the quilting front. I didn't do anything last night and tonight was a meeting at the church. I have trimmed up the string blocks I had from Saturday. I got a few more tonight. The progress on those is coming right along! Grace took the rest of the background and center strips home and some others are still out. I hope we may have them all back by next week. That means the quilt could be assembled and maybe to LTW by the end of the month!!

Quilting with the Canton Area Quilt Guild is tomorrow night and I am looking forward to going and working on my RPE redwork blocks.

Sorry no pictures tonight!! Maybe tomorrow. I hope you are all making great progress on your own quilts.

Super Saturday

Today was a good day. I got up and went to the gym, an hour of body vive and an hour of abs work. WHEW!! Oh and the weigh in (down 3.4 lbs). Now if I go by the scale in my own home I have lost 14 pounds so far in the month. Not too shabby huh? Then home to shower, grab a quick bite and off the quilting at the church with the CL's. We are making a string quilt for the Relay for Life group at the church so I brought my machine and planned on working for a few hours. I can't seem to find my 9.5" ruler at the moment so I will have to borrow one and trim up the blocks. More on that later.

I was surprised but there were many CL's there today and several of us actually sewed blocks. It was a fun afternoon. Charlotte brought donuts and Pilar brought ice cream cake and I didn't have ANY!!! That was so difficult, but I was good.

I haven't posted about this but I got the Chubby Chicks quilt back from LTW and it came out soooo cute! Here it is untrimmed and no binding either. I make red with dime sized white polka dots on it for the binding. It should be cute!

I took some close ups of the quilting for you to see. Notice the wing on the chick?

On top of that on Wednesday night I got some more of the Rabbits Prefer Embroidery finished. This one, and this one.

And do you remember that I told you I won a giveaway? This is what I won. A yard of fabric from Amy Schimler and she even sent an adorable post card.
My "Prize"
DH was gone for the last 3 days and came home today. He is making a steak and I have potatoes and green beans cooking. He leaves for another 3 days tomorrow, so this is our Valentine's celebration. No gifts, I told him, the transmission is enough!! LOL Plus the clock light that I failed to mention. I appreciate that much more anyway!
So that catches you all up on what's new here. Hope you all have a great Valentine's Day tomorrow and get to spend it with your sweetie, or at least some sweets!!

Lazy Day Sunday

Yep, just look at these 2 big ol' goof balls!

Aiden and Mosen
I got up to do go to church and when I came back there they were. Like that is their chair or something. SHEESH!! I let them stay though and did some cleaning. Then I decided that it was time to sew. I decided it was time to work on the water quilt. I may, in fact, actually have enough fabrics cut to make 2 of these, thus solving my dilemma of who this quilt needs to go to. I really want to give it to DD2 and I think it would make a nice grad present for my niece (also a swimmer). She is not graduating until next June though so her quilt could be something different. Just trying to use up what I have already cut though. So, if there is enough, then there will be 2. The blocks are kind of mindless sewing anyway. A split 9 patch really. I have finished 16 so far, see? I love working with these colors. Very soothing. I am also "reading" via my iPod, to Voyager by Diana Gabaldon, which I am enjoying immensely!! If I do 2 of them I may have to get some additional border fabric but maybe not will have to check the stash first of course!!
Blocks in progress

As kind of an interesting aside, the message at mass today really hit home. Part of it spoke of having a "wicked mouth in a group of people with wicked mouths". That made me think better of what I said before. Mass went on to say that only through the grace of God will I be worthy. So I have asked for His grace and feel like if He can extend this to me so should others. It doesn't really matter though as long as he will. I have had a more peaceful day than I have had in a long time. I needed to hear that message today. How fortuitous that I had to pick up the deviled egg containers from the church for the deviled eggs we are making for the funeral lunch tomorrow and decided to go to mass at the same time, right? I never question how He moves in my life, I just try to pay attention and be open to His presence.

Yes, I am not perfect, but I am learning to follow where He leads me.

Weight Loss Progress

I have some good news...I lost another 2.6 pounds according to the WW scales. Yeah me!!! I also went to the gym and did the treadmill for 30 minutes and then did Pilates for an hour. I never feel bad in Pilates but boy was I sore this morning!! When I weighed myself on my scale at home this morning it says I lost another pound, but I am posting the weight loss from the WW scale so that one will have to count next week.

I have been asking my friends for any of their Kaffe Fassett scraps. I need 2.5 x 5" pieces, so if any of you are feeling generous, send some KF lovin' my way would ya? I have a project in mind but just need some additional scraps. One of my friends gave me this fantastic pile yesterday.

Kaffe scraps
Pretty cool huh? Now never fear, if you see some you have too and you are sayin to yourself, "Darn it, she already has that one", I can always use more! Really, it's true!! I need a lot of scraps.

Also, I have told ya'all that I am having trouble sleeping, right? NO?? Well, I am and it really sucks! I am lucky if I get 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. YAWN, JK... Anyway, I discovered a magic little helper that is natural. Melatonin! I take one about 1-2hours before bed and like magic I fall asleep and stay asleep. When I remember, dang it, now I need to work on that. Where was I going with this? Ah yes, so Sunday night I forgot to take it so I was tossing and turning so I just got up. I decided to work on my embroidery (to try to catch up to PTM). Here is what I got done.
RPE Block 2
I just have a bit more of the basket, the arm and the ground and this one will be done! Course, I went to bed around 2am and was up at 6am for work. The weird thing about this no sleep thing is that I really don't feel tired all day. You would think will all this exercising I would sleep better but alas it is not helping!

Tonight I go back to the POKE-N-STAB group (the church ladies, CL's for short). Part of me is looking forward to it and part of me is not. After the month long break I realize I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. Now I need to pray about this and see if God is calling me in another direction. All signs are pointing that way. Do you believe thing happen for a reason? I do and so far several things have been pointing me away from that group. We will be going over their surveys tonight and we will see how that goes. I have some prior comittments as far as quilts promised that need to be completed so I am there at least until the summer.

Thanks for stopping by and peeking in at my life!!

Oh relaxing Sunday!

That's right, I said RELAXING, and I am trying my best to make that happen. How do so many other things keep creeping into this day? I got up and DH made his usual Sunday breakfast of eggs, some kind of meat and his amazing hashbrowns (from scratch). I haven't ever shown those to you have I? Well, next Sunday I will take some pictures, I promise! So that was late, because we slept in until 9 and then we both got on our computers. Hey, my farm in Farmville isn't going to farm itself now is it? So I took care of my farm and did the dishes, and cleaned up from breakfast and got in some laundry. Now I can relax, right? NO, not just yet.

I got my sewing machine back to it's rightful place after the holidays, had DH adjust it so it sits flush in my cabinet (that only took me 5 years to accomplish) and then called PTM. Keep her in your prayers, she is struggling with moving her mom into a smaller place and downsizing all the "stuff" parents accumulate (and probably us too when we are our parents age!). It is difficult to do this from here when they are in Canada, eh? Anyway, we don't have quilting on Wed so I am going over to see her on Wed and we will make some pillowcases for charity. She is going to teach me the "no seam" method. This necessitates some fabric choices and washing. She told me I had to wash everything I want to use. So back to the basement to sort and wash. UGH, then dry and iron. What was I thinking??

Relax now? NO, not yet. Go change loads of laundry and then it is time to list my red coin quilt on ETSY. It takes more time than you think to get that done too. First pictures, then Photoshop, then create the listing. DONE, now relax, NO not yet. Wait, maybe it is...

Time to blog. OK so now you are up to speed with where I am in my day today. Blogging almost done. Not a chore though, this is fun. Would you like to see some pictures of the quilt? OK here goes.
I showed this before but these were cropped in Photoshop.
Red Quilt for ETSYRed quilt back

Here is a close up of the coins and that pinwheel? My friend, Yuki, carved a stone stamp form and this is how the stamp comes out. My name is in Japanese in the lower right corner of the stamp. I should have inked it a little more but oh well. I have decided to use this on the quilts I sell that have a light back. I bought some custom made tape for dark backgrounds. Keep reading to see it.

LTW's wonderful quilting. I love these birds and berries!

Red quilt back quilting
This is the tape I bought from Litta Lotta. I should have made the cat a little darker and will correct that for the next time. She does great work if you are in the market for labels for your quilts. I wanted something that said it came from me without a huge homemade label. It will be a loop sewn into the binding, like Red Pepper Quilts has done. What do you think?
New Labels
Oh, I forgot to show you this. Yesterday after my hours of errands, I had to bring the church bulletin board home and update it. This is what I came up with. It needs some photos of the group and our antics but those are on my work computer so I will need to send some of them to the store for printing and then add them to the board. I think it came out quite well. I'm not nearly as good with paper. I had that quilted wrapping paper and that was all I had left of it so I thought it would be great on the board. I need to glue the edge down but I was pretty pleased with the outcome.
Bulletin Board

I have been working on my embroidery and doing some of the flower basket blocks I had begun. I will have to take some pictures later. At night the fam has been watching season one and two of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I have been working on those then. Anyhoo. I guess that's enough for now, right?

Oh, one last thing. We have found out that our dumb dog LOVES to eat snow. Last night we took some video of her eating snow in a bowl we brought in the house. I am going to post that too. Make sure you get a chance to watch it. The second one finds Jack trying to hone in on the action only to be denyed. Funny stuff.

Ok, laundry is calling, then relaxing. Yep, I mean it, I'm really going to do it cuz work begins tomorrow.

My Life Lately (or I really need more hours in a day)

Have you been wondering where I have been lately? No? Well I am going to tell you anyway!

Last week Tuesday the CL's had a Christmas party. We did a small gift exchange and it was fun. I am ready for a break from that group right now though, after some of the "stuff" that had happened. Maybe some well deserved time off is in order. What do you think?

Then on Saturday, the family went to East Lansing to go to a mass to remember my MIL that has been dead for 30 years. My DH's entire family, including my FIL and his wife, and all 7 brothers and sisters and all the kids, except for 2 were able to make it. I thought I would get a holiday photo of my family while I was at it.

My Family 03

Before we got to the church we stopped in Mason, a small town outside of Lansing. There is a little general store there with fabric called Keans (I think) and I found some of a line I liked when I saw it online. So here is what I got.

DSCF5552

They also had the Alice in Wonderland line and it is really fabulous in person. I didn't want to buy any as I really don't know what I would do with it and I am trying not to buy what I don't have a use intended for (Like the fabric I just bought, sigh)

I did manage to get the entire downstairs decorated for Christmas. It sure takes a lot of time to do that!

Anyway...DH and I went to Shipshewana on Monday. I will blog about it in a little while. I have to get back to work for the moment. Genotyping is never finished!! = )

Craft Show

I had a busy weekend but I will begin with Saturday and since it is kind of late and I have to be up early will most likely finish the story tomorrow. Friday night I went to the church to help set up for the craft show that the POKE-N-STAB quilters were in. (STAB stands for St. Thomas A'Becket, my church). We sure had a lot of stuff to put out. Then Saturday morning at around 8:30 I went back to the church to drop off the cash box. Of course I did a little shopping too. I found a little something to send to one of my friends that lives out of town but in the country. I'll let you puzzle that out.

This is what our "booth" looked like at the show. Last year we were crammed into a small space but this year we had lots of room to spread out.

Christmas Craft Show2

Christmas Craft Show 01Christmas Craft Show 03
We did amazingly well! It was a successful day indeed. I then went home and decided I wanted to get the tree up and the house decorated. I managed to only get the tree up and the lights on it. DD1 and I took some more boxes to her storage facility so now at least I can get to the decorations! LOL. So hopefully this week. Sat night we met our friend, Shelby for dinner and we got to meet her new boyfriend. She is a widow for many years now and we are glad to see her so happy. He seems like a nice guy, very down to earth. We had a great evening but that meant nothing else got done until today (which nothing got done in either). Like I said though, it is late and I am tired so more tomorrow.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

That's right, you know you heard me. I said Christmas Tree. As in this is the fabulous quilt the CL's have made for the raffle at our church. The photo does NOT do this quilt justice. (Plus it isn't even trimmed this was right after I got it back from LTW)

Christmas Tree 03

I was really excited about how I had LTW quilt this one and once again, photos aren't the same as the quilt but I am going to walk you though it, k?

Let's start at the top and work our way down the lovely tree, shall we? First thing to notice is the star in the star. You may also see the snowflakes surrounding the entire tree. These are done in silver.

Star

The next thing is all the ornaments all over the tree done in a sparkly gold.
ornaments

In this next one you will see quite a lot. Notice the candle on the end of the branch. LTW free handed the scrolls out from the ornaments to reach the candles. Next to the candle you will see more snowflakes, followed by an old fashioned icecicle
kind of thing in that first border. The squares got a neat line treatment and the entire outer border is filled with golden jingle bells!
up close
The view from under the tree is spectacular too. There are several different sized presents all tied up with bows. I think you should be able to see that the ornaments are actually hanging down off the bottom of the tree too.
gifts
Regretfully, the one thing I don't have a photo of is the tree trunk. No big deal you say, right? Well no detail was too small for LTW and she gave our tree trunk some free hand bark!! Yes she did!!

There are a few more photos on my Flickr account too if you want to see more/

I hope you have enjoyed your visit through our Christmas tree quilt. The pattern was designed by one of the ladies in our group and it is fabulous, isn't it? Then all the CL's made blocks for the quilt and the pattern designer put the whole thing together. Then we sent it to LTW for her magnificent quilting and now another lady in the CL group will do the binding (in the cream of the borders).

Anyone interested in tickets? $1 each or 6 for $5 Let me know.

I'm Back...

I have missed all of you but I have been really busy since I can see properly again, LOL. I did a lot of running around and some cleaning and laundry and have not been all that interested in quilting, I heard you all gasp, but I really haven't been very motivated! All that changed today for me.

I decided to ignore most of what I *needed* to do and tried to get some sewing done. I had some things hanging over my head and decided to buck up and get them finished. First thing I want to tell you about before what I did today is about my amazing CL's. Here is the main group standing behind 33 quilts we are donating to Mott Children's hospital. They contacted us and wanted to know if we could contribute to the 150 quilts they wanted for an entire floor. We sure did that, in a BIG way. They only thing bigger than the number of quilts we donated is the hearts of the ladies that made them. Way to go ladies!!

Now I can tell you about today. The first thing on the list was one of the star/lighthouse quilts. I was so close to being finished with the stars for one of them that I just finished them all up! Now I can bring them on Wed night and lay the quilt out and then I can get it sewn together. Did I tell you that the Wed night group is not going to exist after December. We meet at a theater and they need our room for a choir to practice. Bummer. Anyway, here are all the stars for the first one of these all packed up for Wed.
Stars done
The next thing on the list was to pack up some things I had promised to mail (and one thing that is a surprise). Mary kindly sent me a witch for an exchange and I needed to stitch around an owl so I did that, I made the 9 patch for her too. Then another blogger send me some back patterns that she had done and so I needed to get some FQ's ready to go to her, check, that's off the list. The last bit is the surprise, old patterns going out to another friend.
To mail
I had to make a label for the M string quilt for the raffle too so that is done. I just need to sew it on. I had to write on a label for a quilt for the church too and that is done as well. So next on that list is a baby quilt to send to my French daughter that had a baby in June. (I just found out about it 2 weeks ago). So I used my Odyssea Charm packs and have all the coins done for the stacked coins baby quilt.
What I did all weekend
I have the sashing cut and the back cut but don't know if I will get to it tonight. I still need to sew on the M string quilt label and finish the laundry and go to the store and pay the bills, whew, but maybe I will.

Last but not least PTM gave me the mother load of peppers. So I got DH to cut them all up and put them in the dehydrator before he left for work today. He is not home tonight so I can stay up later and do what I want to as long as I can get up for work tomorrow! Don't they look yummy?? Now I can keep them and use them all winter.
Drying peppers
Last but not least, yesterday I went to JAF to use my 50% off coupon. Could I find anything that wasn't already on sale? But of course! I found this adorable, retro, sewing basket. Too cute, eh?
