I Just Thought I Would Share

So if you are squemish, STOP reading right now, seriously, STOP.

Remember that my dog bit me last Tuesday?  I was talking to one of the doctors at work and he freaked out that I had not filled my prescription for antibiotics.  So he made me walk over to the pharmacy yesterday and get my prescription filled.  It looks much better today, but still really, really ugly!   I know you are dying to see how it is healing right?  Well wonder no longer here you go.  First is the bite on the top of my finger, notice the blue bruise line the length of the nail.  N-I-C-E!

Dog bite the other side

Now remember this is one week later, but this is the bad side. There was a flap of skin about half an inch long and I could not stop the bleeding. Look how much better it looks now!!

Dog Bite on the pad of my finger

The one on the pad of my finger still hurts and the dead skin is catching on things too. I didn't realize how much I used my pointer finger! LOL. I use it for applique, for hand stitching down bindings, and for rotary cutting!! YIKES!! Please heal quickly finger!! I have lots to do.

Hope you guys are all well too. Anyone else been bitten? ~XOP~

You should get some finger cots - finger sleeves used for burns. This will allow that flap to heal and prevent dirt, etc.. getting into it. I Was attacked when very young by my grandfather's old dog - age thing. And then as a teen while biking by a stray - went thru the rabies shots back when you got the series in the stomach - not fun.

What a nasty bite you got... I'm glad that it's healing but it looks like it's going to take a while before that finger is sewing-ready again...

Ow!!! If there might be a little infection, it looks a bit red from the top, soak your finger in warm/hot very salted water. That brings it out fast. You could do it in the evening when you're calming down for bed. I would keep a plaster on it to keep the skin a bit moist. It does heal faster if you do and it keeps re-injury to a minimum, what with catching dry skin on stuff. I wouldn't have fussed with the antibiotic either, but then I'm stupid that way.

OWWIE!! I wish there were a tip you could put on it so you could sew, but you wouldn't feel it properly. I was thinking those rubber tips you use in the office when you have to count tons of paper... the needle would go right through that.. I think. OOOh naughty doggy. Heal fast!!

I was bitten because I stupidly tried to break up a fight between two of my dogs and was bitten in the arm. I thought my arm was ok until I saw puffiness and red lines from the bite so I immediately went to urgent care and ended up on antibiotics. They also put my arm in a sling which was overkill but brought some TLC from hubbie and dinner at a restaurant. All in well and arm healed quickly. I also had a nasty slice on my left index finger about a month ago from my rotary cutter. Treated it myself and it healed nicely but was inconvenient when trying to sew. I still don't know how it happened because I'm usually really careful when cutting fabric. Joan

serious dog and cat bites are NOTHING to mess with! I got a shot of antibiotics AND a prescription for a cat bite I received over two years ago. I also received a tetanus shot. Both Dogs and Cats can carry serious bacteria.

{My Chessie was stressed out over a new cat in the household. She was laying on my lap when Gracie suddenly surprised her. Chessie hissed and then promptly bit me on the hand).

I dont have a dog. But I have 8 cats, one extremely wild and is a swatter outside, he has a mean left and I have the top of my arms and now my hand full of cuts from that paw, the whole top of my right hand is one big bruise. And I have one cat inside that I rescued, my himmy, who is a biter, he was declawed by his original family....and i had one bits that was worse than yours unfortunately. But I still love him. Now the one outside is not really welcome and we have not been able to catch him to take him to the pound. We decided we needed leather gloves all the way up to the shoulders to try, meanwhile I am feeding him near a huge cage and one day hope to slam that door shut on him-lol

I've been stepped on by a horse, does that count? I've only got 9 toenails because of that big paint mare.
Have you seen the pineapple cutter/slicer thingy from Pampered Chef? There's blood on my kitchen floor because of getting sliced by it last night.
Sometimes our fingers just get in the way.

Golly, she got you good, didn't she? I've been bitten by a dog -- a friend's beagle -- about...36 years ago. I still have a scar on my finger, although its much fainter now than it used to be. I like CATS! (Although they have their moments, too!)

Not bitten, but scratched pretty bad by the cat. That is a bad spot to take a bite-good thing skin self heals quickly. Keep it clean and do use the antibiotics!
