On The Way Into Work

Yesterday I wanted to post about this but with already posting twice I figured I would save it for today. I work at the University of Michigan (U of M) and I graduated from Michigan State University (MSU). The schools are BIG rivals. You need to know that to appreciate what I am going to share with you. In case you are new to my blog you will also need this background info. I work in Ann Arbor Michigan. Ann Arbor is a very liberal community, I, on the other hand, am very conservative. Stage is set. Here is what the back of my van looks like.

I park in a large parking structure every day with this facing out so MANY people see it as they pass by. So not only do I have a HUGE Spartan "S" on my van I also sport a Nobama bumper sticker. You would think that this might be a problem for me or my van but quite the opposite is true. Yesterday I was getting out of my car and I walked around the back and was waiting for DD1 to get out and join me. I turned to my left and there was a man standing there which startled me a little. He proceeded to tell me that he drives by my van all the time and since he happened to catch me he wanted to let me know that I was courageous to be driving around with these things on my car and that he appreciated and agreed with my Nobama sentiments. I told him he was not the first person to say so and thanked him and told him to keep up the good fight.

It's interesting how much attention that bumper sticker seems to generate. One day a few months ago I was stopped at a light. I happened to look over at the car on my left and the woman in the passenger seat was gesturing for me to roll my window down. I did and she told me her husband LOVED my bumper sticker and wanted to know where I had gotten it. Makes me feel some of the "hope" BO was talking about that come November there will be a "Change" I can believe in!!

I'm proud of you too - it's sometimes not an easy thing for you to stand up for what you believe in the world we live in now. We are going to a family reunion tomorrow where we are really the only conservatives in the bunch. My husband will be wearing his TEA party t-shirt and my oldest son will wear his 1-20-2013. And I will probably be talking about God! Oh my!!

BTW - your pictures showing your 1/2 way mark weight loss were inspiring!! You look GREAT! Congratulations on a lot of hard work - it has definitely paid off :)

First off, I love your weight loss pictures too! Your Nobama sticker is awesome, thank you for being gutsy enough to display it. Off to my elderly friends house to let her play with my new Go cutter. Have a great day, Elaine

LOVE that bumper sticker..say one today that said 'I'll keep my guns, freedom and money..you keep the change'!! HAHA And how's this for a quote--

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.
Thomas Jefferson

The founders of our country were a pretty darned smart group of men! Wish some of em were around today.

Good for you on standing up for your belief! I'd like one of those too but dh would never let me put it on the car - yes we are a house divided.

My favorite bumper sticker said "I'm retired, go around me".

Love your weight loss pics, Pam, I'm not going to recognize you next time I see you!

Good for you, you are courageous and I'm in your corner. I live in a small college town, very liberal too, and my husband and I are conservatives. I'm a registered democrat, but haven't voted that way in many, many years. I don't like the way the party has gone. It was a democrat who said "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." While not the most beloved of our Presidents, and he certainly did a lot wrong, that was still a good principle to live by. What happened to it? I digress, I'd love to know where you got your bumper sticker. Please let us know.
